Basic VoIP Training Class Schedule

CLASS INFORMATION

AUDIENCE: System Administrators who are responsible for implementing Voice over IP (VoIP) technology on their Definity or IP-based Avaya switch. This is a beginning-level class, and therefore assumes the client’s LAN/WAN will handle the requirements of a VoIP PBX.

During the course of the class, the students will receive an overview of the transition being made from TDM-based switch technology to the new IP/Server-based switches. They will discuss the new Avaya IP telephones, Media Servers and Gateways that are now available. There will be extensive hands-on time devoted to programming IP telephones using both static IP addressing and DHCP provided addressing, as well as IP trunking between various TDM-based and Media Server-based switches and Gateways.

  • 1:00PM – 1:30PM: Discuss Media Gateway Connectivity to the Main IP Switch
  • 1:30PM – 3:30PM: Exercise – Create Connection from IP Switch to a Media Gateway
  • 3:30PM – 5:00PM: Exercise – Connect IP Phones to Media Gateway and Test
